How To Select The Right Seeds For Your Farm

As we all know Farm Town is one of the biggest new game on Facebook (or should i say on the planet) these days. As a result, millions of players out there are trying to figure out which Farm Town seeds to select that are best for their farms. If you are one of those skeptics, you may have an idea of what to start with or which seeds to skip, but you will likely be surprised by what you should be planting and what to completely avoid.

The Right Farm Town Seeds.

When you start looking and selecting for your seeds, make sure you aim to select for ones that are going to give you a solid return on your investment. For example, tomatoes are going to cost you a solid 50 coins to plant and will reward you with 140 coins in profit when you harvest them. That’s a 90 coin profit or that seed. On the other hand, Potatoes will reward you with only 59 coins in profit. See the difference.

But, keep in mind as well that the time to plant and then harvest these two very different seeds is very different. To take into account how many coins you will make for your time, you need to know their growth time. In this case, tomatoes take a full 2 days to harvest while potatoes only take one day. So, selecting and choosing potatoes actually turn out to be about 50% more profitable than tomatoes.

What Seeds are to be Avoided?
Don’t just pick and select seeds that look cool. Find ones that will reward you with a good profit for your time invested and that grow in the time frame you have to devote. If you log in once a day, find the right seed and most profitable plants that grow in a day or more. Keep these factors in mind and you will do much better when growing your plants for the first time.

If you plant and select the right Farm Town seeds every time you log into your account, at least for the first few levels, you will be able to make sure that you develop a good number of Farm Town coins for your account. By opting out of this, you will not be able to develop the wealth you need to have a well run, steady farm.

Another thing, keep track of your crops, plant the ones that work best with your schedule and when you have developed a large enough fortune of coins, you can start focusing on making the farm look nice for the people who come to visit and admire your layout.

Superhero City Tips: Wearable Items and Merit Points

Superhero City Tips: Wearable Items and Merit Points

Wearable Items:

A wide array of wearable items are available for purchase in Superhero City. These items will give the wearer various increases in their stats, much like in RPG video games.

All items are divided into 3 categories - amulets, bracers and rings. A player can only wear 1 amulet, 2 bracers and 2 rings at any given time. This limitation creates a strategic opportunity however. For example, while one particular amulet might give you a large attack bonus, a different amulet might give you an equally large defense bonus. And so the strategy you want to employ here is to equip attack based items only when you are actually attacking other people. The rest of the time you should be wearing defensive items.

Another strategy is to further refine what you have equipped by wearing 2 of the same rings and 2 of the same bracers depending on whether you are attacking or defending. So instead of wearing 1 ring that gives a 50% attack bonus and one that gives a 75% attack bonus, simply buy (and equip) 2 of the 75% rings to maximize your bonus.

The list of available items in Superhero City will change from time to time. The ones that change most frequently are those that cost Merit Points to buy. These items come in finite quantities and once they are bought up they are gone. Regular items will stick around much longer and will usually just have an item or two added to the list depending on the season, like a Christmas themed amulet or whatnot. These items are not as powerful as the ones that cost Merit Points though.

Merit Points:

As was just mentioned, the most powerful wearable items in Superhero City are those that cost Merit Points. They come in limited quantities and are very expensive. Compared to top-notch Merit Abilities, which can cost 40-60 Merit points, these particular items can cost well over 100 Merit Points. Their bonuses are so large though that they are well worth buying. The only problem is that unless you're willing to buy Merit Points with real money, it will be quite a while before you can afford them.

Assuming then that you won't be buying Merit Points, it is best if you concentrate on obtaining Merit Abilities as they will give you the most bang for your buck.

These super powers differ from the regular Attack, Defense and Movement powers in two different ways. First, they cost Merit Points to buy. Second, they are much more powerful than regular super powers.

Merit Abilities come in 3 different categories or "classes" - Alpha, Gamma and Omega. Alpha Class abilities are the cheapest and least powerful. Gamma comes in second and Omega is first, being both the most powerful and the most expensive.

There will be 3 of each class on sale at any given time, with a 15% discount if you buy all 3 together. So in terms of saving, it makes sense to wait until you can afford to buy all 3 together.

Waiting is not always practical however, and buying a Merit Ability whenever you can afford it is never a bad idea.

This brings us to what NOT to buy with Merit Points. Aside from Merit Abilities, there is a small list of luxuries that are available for purchase. These include a Fight Refill (5 Merit Points), Energy Refill (25 Merit points), Extra Team Member (10 Merit Points), $10,000 (10 Merit Points), and finally, the ability to change your hero's name (1 Merit Point).

All of these are, to different degrees, a waste of hard-earned Merit Points and should be avoided in most cases.

Fights refill pretty fast on their own at the rate of 1 every 30 minutes. Plus, friends can send you free boosts to refresh fights. Energy as well refills rather quickly and like fights, can be refreshed by free boosts.

An extra team member is never worth it because they can never be as powerful as a real player on your team. Besides, real Team Building is more effective and most importantly, FREE!

As for spending 10 Merit Points to get $10,000 worth of in-game cash, that's just a joke. Money is easy to come by in Superhero City through fighting and by completing missions.

The ability to change your name could come in handy though. And because it's cheap, makes for a bargain if you're in need of evading your enemies.

At the end of the day however, if you want to be as competitive as possible in Superhero City, then Merit Points should only be used to buy Merit Abilities and wearable items.

Youtube Tips: How To Save YouTube Videos Offline And Play It On Your PC

Want to save YouTube videos to your computer’s hard disk for future offline viewing?
YouTube is a streaming video service. The videos are streamed in real time to your web browser, using the Adobe Flash Player. The problem is the videos aren’t saved to your PC’s hard drive; if you want to watch a video at a later time when you’re not connected to the Internet, you can’t.

But even though YouTube doesn’t let you download its videos, there are other sites and software programs that can step in to get the job done. Fortunately, there are several options for downloading YouTube videos to your computer’s hard drive. Read on to learn more.

Tools for Downloading YouTube Videos

Several websites let you do what YouTube doesn’t—save YouTube videos to your computer’s hard drive. And after you’ve saved a YouTube video, you can watch it anytime you want, even if you’re not connected to the Internet.

The easiest way to save your YouTube videos is to use a video downloader site designed just for that purpose. These sites take the Flash video from the YouTube site and save it to your PC’s hard drive. Once it’s on your hard drive, you can view it at any time.

To use one of these sites, go to the YouTube site, open the desired video viewing page, and then copy the URL for this page. Now go to the video downloader site and paste that URL into the appropriate box. Click the Download button, and the site will download the selected video to your disk, saving it in the .FLV format. (If prompted, you’ll need to give the downloaded file a .FLV extension.)
Some of the more popular YouTube downloader sites include the following:
All of these sites are completely free to use, and will download and save any YouTube video (and, in some cases, videos from other streaming video sites).

In addition, if you use the Internet Explorer web browser, you can use the FlvGetter plug-in to download FLV-format videos from within the browser. If you use Mozilla Firefox instead, similar FLV downloading plug-ins for your browser include UnPlug and VideoDownloader.

Youtube Tips: How To Edit Your Videos With YouTube Remixer

If you’re like me, not all your videos are perfect on first recording. Most can do with a little editing—rearranging some of the scenes, adding titles, applying special effects, and the like. Previously, you had to do this editing in a separate program, which cost you money. Now, however, you can edit your videos after you’ve uploaded them to YouTube, using the new YouTube Remixer online editing program.

YouTube Remixer is a proprietary version of Adobe’s Premier Express program. Though not quite as versatile as Microsoft’s Windows Movie Maker or Apple’s iMovie, the Remixer is still quite handy and easy to use.

To edit a video with YouTube Remixer, click the My Videos link in the My box on YouTube’s home page. When your list of uploaded videos appears, click the Remix Video button next to the video you want to edit.
You can combine multiple videos into a larger video; add graphics, captions, and borders; add transitions and effects between video clips; and add background music from YouTube’s library of licensed music tracks. Remixer uses a drag-and-drop interface that’s fairly intuitive, so you should be able to figure it out without a steep learning curve.

Farm Town General Information

First of all remember this game is in beta which means it is still in the testing stage and not yet in the final release. This is both exciting and frustrating to say the least. We are in on the ground floor of this game with lots of new things to come and we have to deal with the problems that occur while playing. The developers are depending on us to help them with the issues and suggest new features to add, so make the best of it and hang in there it will get better in time.
If you are new or fairly new at the game then I would recommend you visit these links and read up on the game. Read on these Farm Town General Information to familiarize yourself with the system.

Farm Town User Guide Farm Town FAQ - General user information.
Official Farm Town Guide User added information and more links.
Farm Town Etiquette A must read if you want to really learn the game.

If you haven't joined the Farm Town Forum by all means take the link from here or on the game menu bar at the top of the game screen. Register and link your farm with the forum, this allows the developers and administrators to look at your farm if you have problems or issues. At the top of the page will be red text which reads 'Link Farm Account', it will be right under the words 'Play Farm Town'. After clicking on that it should turn gray and read 'Farm Town Account Linked', that's it you are done.
Forum Register Page

These emails are good examples of why you should join the forum:

"Hi i keep getting sent strawberry plants from the same person but i cant use them why is this ? i have at least 22 of them."
This is a system glitch the devs know about, they will be addressing the issue. For now you will have to live with it since you can not delete or sell them. See this thread on the subject:
http://www.slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2482&highlight=strawberry+gifts
"I had bought a silo. Coins disappear silo did not appear. This happened twice (I know BooHoo) This a glitch or bug. I wont be buying silos any more."
If you can see other buildings then there is a problem. Make sure the option to hide buildings is not unchecked in your preferences. If your farm is linked to the forum the devs can look into this and repair the problem. Just post in the support forum under one of the threads related to lost items and game problems.
Inventory your farm. Field count, trees, animals, and all the other things you buy and add to the farm. Things like fences are expensive I have 130 pieces on my farm with a total investment of 32,500 coins. If they just disappeared one day I would want them restored (see Farm Manager for more).
One thing I have noticed is when the farm first loads and I click to my character somewhere he moves slowly. If I zoom in with one click on the magnifying symbol he speeds up
If you are just starting out go for the cash crops to earn more coins. Hire others to harvest for you, you make more by doing so and you may get hired in return earning more coins. At first the best crops were potato, rice and sun flowers. It seems that may have changed with the new crops, cabbage, peas and onions. Grapes can be planted every 4 hours bringing in some quick coinage and experience points but with a lot of effort in plowing and planting. Tight cropping will maximize the use of your land space, you can use one of the methods below or just uncheck the crop spacing in your preferences.(the safest method)
Changing some of your preferences (the wrench icon on the mini toolbar, see the image below) can help in many ways. You can uncheck display trees to get to hidden fields, find lost animals and items, re-arrange things on the farm, or do an inventory. You can also show/hide buildings and flowers. Freeze the animals, good for moving fencing around. Uncheck follow avatar while walking (an annoying thing sometimes), and smooth graphics. Unchecking the smooth graphics may help speed the game up for some people.
Remove space between fields will also allow you to some other things such as place paths closer to the fields or next to each other. I deleted all my fields and used this method to re-plow and plant everything. This is by far the easiest and safest method to use. I gained 26 fields and eliminated all of my problem fields, the ones that would plow and plant twice or show up the next day as not plowed or planted.

Notice the Disk Icon on the mini toolbar. While plowing and planting keep an eye on this, if it stays blue for an extended period of time click on it to force a save. This seems to cut down on the XLink save errors and farm reloads while working. I also plow, plant, and re-arrange my farm in offline mode. If the plow tool starts acting up like sliding under fields or jumping around, click on the walk icon to drop it and re-select it. This seems to reset the tool.
Earn Coins....I avoid this like the plague. I tried it once and made out well, the next go at it I got trapped on a site and had to close the browser to get out. Now I get endless emails and text messages from that experience, my bad. So use this option at your own risk.
If you are visiting with friends or neighbors at one of the Inns, get booted and can't find them again, send a PM and arrange to meet on someones' farm to continue your conversations.

Youtube Tips: How To Upload Videos From Your Mobile Phone

Here’s another cool and convenient way to post videos to YouTube: Use your mobile phone.
If your cell phone has a built-in video camera, you can upload videos directly from that phone without first copying them to your PC. All you have to do is set up YouTube’s mobile upload options and then email your videos to the YouTube site.

To configure YouTube for your mobile phone, click the My Account link at the top of any YouTube page. When your My Account page appears, scroll down to the Account Settings section and click the Mobile Upload Profiles link. On the next page, click the Create Mobile Profile button.

Next you’ll see the Create Mobile Upload Profile page. Supply the necessary information—the profile name, video title, whether you want the filename or date appended to the video title, a short description of the profile, whether your mobile videos should be public or private, tags for your mobile videos, a category for your videos, people you want to share them with, and how you want to be notified when the upload is complete. Click the Create Profile button, and your profile is created.

The profile you create includes the email address to which you should send your mobile videos. Typically it’s a series of numbers followed by @mms.youtube.com. Make a note of this address and enter it into your mobile phone’s address book.

To upload a video from your mobile phone, start by recording the video on your phone; then email the video to the @mms.youtube.com address. You’ll be notified via email or text message when YouTube has received the email and begun processing the video. You can then go to YouTube’s website and edit specific information about the newly uploaded video.

Mass Effect 2 Tips and Tricks: Infinite Squad Points Trick

Mass Effect 2: Infinite Squad Points Trick

This ability is rather simple. All you need - I recommend that you turn the auto-level up feature off entirely in order for this to work effectively - are about ten squad points, so I recommend you save up - or you could use the Retrain Powers ability at the research terminal for Shepard.

Basically, with the squad points saved up, just choose a character's ability and purchase the first three tiers of that specific ability. Then, highlight the fourth tier, and press "a" and "x" at the same time. If you do this correctly, the number of points you spent will be returned to you - in this case, since you spent ten squad points, you would get ten squad points in return! The amount of points you get in return depends on which tier you started on before you evolved your power/stat. If you were on the second tier and you did this, you would only get about seven points (3+4= 7) in return, while if you'd already purchased the first tier, you'd only get nine in response. It may sound a little confusing, but you'll get it once you've tried it.

You should see why ten squad points is recommended for this trick, as you can effectively max out all your character's abilities, as well as those of your squadmates. However, unlike Shepard, you can't undo spent squad points with Retrain Powers, and having the setting on auto-level up for your squadmates spends the points as soon as they level up. Hence, using this trick early can give you the advantage you need to survive, especially on harder settings.

Note: The new Mass Effect 2 update doesn't allow this trick to work anymore, so you might want to wait until you've gotten all the characters you want to max out before you accept this patch. If you can't, you're just out of luck. Enjoy the game!

How to Time Farm Town Harvests Effectively

Like just about any other Facebook game, one of the most important things you can do for you farm is to ensure that the right Farm Town harvests are performed between each planting cycle. This is a major factor that will ultimately determine how often you can gather enough coins for expansion and be sure that you don’t have crops wither and die prematurely. The key is to develop a good schedule, then plant crops that will reward you with the most possible profit within your schedule range. If you can do that, you will definitely be okay. So, how to time farm town harvests effectively? read the following tips:

Scheduling Your Farm Town Harvests
Harvesting in Farm Town is one of the fundamental skills of the game. You need to be able to harvest immediately when your crops are done. They will last for a good chunk of time when mature (usually twice as long as it takes to grow), but that doesn’t mean you should wait that long. The reason is simple. You could be growing something else in that time. For that reason, you should find the crops that best meet your schedule.
If you can log on twice a day, every 12 hours or so, find crops that take between 8 and 12 hours to grow. That way you can get them out of the ground pretty close to when they are harvested and get new plants down to grow before you wake up or get home for the second harvest. This will optimize your profits more times than not.

Making the Most Possible Coins
Along with the timing, make sure to pick crops that are worth a lot. Picking a seed that will reward you with 2.4 coins per hour versus one, like potatoes that rewards you with 4.9 coins per hour is a bad decision. Check the profit margins and pick crops that are going to make whatever time you put into them worth your while each time out.
As you can see, the key to making your Farm Town account truly succeed is to create a well oiled machine that doesn’t waste time or crops unnecessarily. Everything you plant should be something you can harvest at a set time each day. You should also be able to make the most possible coins for that time frame. Do that and your Farm Town harvests will always be profitable and successfully, helping you build toward the maximum level.

Youtube Tips: How To Post YouTube Videos To Your Own Blog

If you have your own personal blog, YouTube makes it easy to send any public YouTube video to your blog as a new blog posting. First, however, you have to tell YouTube about your blog so that it knows where to send the post.

Start by clicking the My Account link at the top of any YouTube page. On the My Account page, scroll down to the Account Settings section and click the Video Posting Settings link. When the next page appears, click the Add a Blog/Site button.

YouTube now displays the Add a Blog/Site page. Pull down the Blog Service list and select your blog host. (YouTube supports automatic posting to Blogger, Friendster, LiveJournal, Piczo, WordPress.com, and WordPress self-hosted blogs.) Now enter your blog username and password, click the Add Blog button, and you’re finished with this preliminary setup.

Once configured, it’s a snap to send any public YouTube video to your blog. Just open the video’s viewing page and click the Share link. When the Share Video panel opens, pull down the Choose a Blog list and select your blog. Enter a title for this post, and then enter any text you want to accompany the video. Youtube Tips: How To Post A Video Comment

On most video pages, the bottom-left of the page is taken up by a series of viewer comments. Users can post their comments about any video. These remarks can be serious or considered, or just exclamatory (“Cool video!”), depending on the person doing the posting.

Most users add text comments, which is easy enough to do. Just open the video viewing page, scroll to the Comments & Responses section, and click the Post a Text Comment link. When the Text Comment box appears, enter your comments and then click the Post Comment button.

But here’s something you might not know: In addition to entering text comments, you can also post a video comment—that is, you upload your own video as a response to the video you just watched.

To reply with your own video comment, scroll to the Comments & Responses section and click the Post a Video Response link. This displays a new Video Response page. From here you can choose to record a video response (using a webcam and microphone), or choose another video you’ve already uploaded to YouTube as your response, or upload a new video as your response. Follow the onscreen instructions to record/choose/upload the video you want to respond with.

Youtube Tips: How To Create A Video Playlist

One of the challenges of enjoying YouTube is the sheer volume of videos available. Saving videos to your Favorites list is one way to handle this volume, but even the Favorites list can get too large to be easily manageable.

For that reason, you may want to create playlists separate from (or in addition to) your Favorites list. A YouTube playlist is simply a collection of videos, organized by whatever criteria you deem appropriate. You can play the videos from a playlist individually or as a group, just as you would the songs in a music playlist on your iPod. And, of course, YouTube lets you create multiple playlists; you can have as many as you want.

There are several ways to create a playlist and to add a video to that playlist. The most common method is to open the page for a video and click the Add to Favorites link. When the Add Video to Your Playlists pane appears, pull down the Select a Playlist list, select the playlist you want, and then click OK.
If you haven’t yet created a playlist, select New Playlist from the Add Video to Your Playlists list and then click OK. This displays the Create/Edit Playlist page; from here, you enter some specific information about the new playlist:

Playlist Name: The name you assign to the playlist.
Video Log: Check this option if you want this playlist used as the video log in your Channel Profile page.
Description: A short description of the contents of this playlist.
Tags: Optional keywords you can use to describe this playlist.
Privacy: Choose whether this playlist should be public (for all YouTube users to view) or private (for your viewing only).

After you’ve filled in all the blanks and options, click the Save Playlist Info button. Your playlist is now saved.
To view the playlists you’ve created, go to the YouTube home page and click the My Playlists link in the My box. This displays the Playlists page. All your playlists are listed at the left of the page; click a playlist name to see which videos are in that list.

To play an individual video in a playlist, click that video. To play all the videos in a playlist one after another, click the Play All Videos link. Or you can click the big Play button next to the playlist name.

The Secret to Farm Town Trees and Flowers

The best thing about games like Farm Town is that they allow you to have a wide array of variety. You are not just stuck with plots of land with seeds in them. You can plant everything from vegetables and fruits to Farm Town trees and flowers – allowing you to create a varied, multi-colored farm plot that your fellow players will be interested in coming to see. The thing about trees in Farm Town is finding a good place to put them where they won’t block your plots or make the game any harder and where you will be able to harvest them all efficiently each day.

How to Choose the Right Farm Town Trees
The best thing about trees is that the fruits on them never rot. You can let them grow away in a corner somewhere and log on each day at the same time to check and then harvest those trees for a nice profit. They will never provide the same profits as your crops, but for players who do not log on every day and might be away for a few days, this is a great option.
The reason is simple. If you suddenly cannot logon for a week and all your crops die, you may run very low on coins. However, you will always have the fruit on your trees available to harvest and flip for a nice profit when you need it. This will provide a guaranteed coin source, no matter what you are doing when you log onto the game each day.

Harvesting and Maintaining Trees and Flowers
Trees are easy to grow and harvest and require no watering – making them the easiest things to care for in the game. Just harvest them whenever they are ready, or if you like how they look with fruit, leave them be. Flowers on the other hand need to be harvested when they are ready and will need watering. They do not reward profit, but can be sold to fellow players or to the game for a small amount. More than anything, flowers are often an aesthetic decision.
When you are playing a game like Farm Town, the role of trees and flowers is most often to beautify. But, if you pick the right Farm Town trees and flowers, you will be able to create not only a better looking plot of land, but to make a nice profit in the process. Just be sure that you don’t plant too many trees or get carried away with their positioning. If you can do that, you will be set when it comes time to harvest and profit from them.

Farmtown Animals: Which Animals Are Best For Your Farm?

Farmtown Animals: Which Animals Are Best For Your Farm?

Every kind of animal you can imagine on a real farm can appear on your own farm, and then some. The most common are chickens, cows, ducks, horses and pigs, but you can also get some rare ones such as swans, rabbits, turtles and many more. Just like other farming games, special limited edition animals are also available if you play the game properly.

You just need to have someone who can send them to you or you need the Farm Town Cash to buy them. There is no such thing as a “best” animal for your farm in Farm Town – it’s all about aesthetics at this point.

Hope you liked it! Thanks for reading!

Youtube Tips: How To Save Your Favorite Videos

Videos stay in your QuickList until you close your web browser; the next time you visit YouTube, those QuickList videos aren’t there anymore.

When you view a video you like and want to keep longer than a single session, you can save it to your YouTube Favorites list. This list is kind of like the Favorites or Bookmarks list you have in your web browser. Any videos saved in YouTube Favorites can be easily accessed for future viewing.

To save a video to your Favorites list, open that video’s viewing page and click the Save link beneath the YouTube video player. This adds the video to the Favorites list. When you want to revisit any of the entries in this list, go to the YouTube home page and click the My Favorites link in the My box. This displays a list of your favorites. Click any video to watch it again.

Youtube Tips: How To Flag A Video For Future Viewing

Here’s a familiar situation. You’re browsing the YouTube site and find a video that looks interesting, but you don’t have the time or inclination to watch it right then. Fortunately, YouTube lets you save this video in a temporary QuickList, without having to open the video page and start playback. Then, when you’re ready, you can go back to this video and watch it at your leisure.

To add a video to your QuickList, all you have to do is click the little + button at the lower-left corner of any video thumbnail. Videos stay in your QuickList for just a single web browsing session; as soon as you close your browser window, the QuickList is flushed.

To see all the videos stored in your QuickList, go to any video viewing page and look for the Unsaved Playlist panel on the right side of the page. View a single video by clicking the thumbnail, or you can play all the videos in your QuickList one after another by clicking the Play All link. To clear your QuickList, click the Clear link.

10 Youtube Useful URL Tricks

Youtube – You know that site with videos and all. Yeah! It turns out that its quite popular and you happen to visit and use it quite often. Instead of just searching and playing here are some top Youtube URL tricks that you should know about:

1. View high quality videos

Youtube gives you the option to switch to high quality videos for some of the videos, however you can check if a video is available in high quality format by appending ‘&fmt=18′(stereo, 480 x 270 resolution) or ‘&fmt=22′(stereo, 1280 x 720 resolution) for even higher quality.
2. Embed Higher Quality Videos

While the above trick works for playback, if however you want to embed hig quality videos you need to append “&ap=%2526fmt%3D18″ and “&ap=%2526fmt%3D22″ to the embed url.
3. Cut the chase and link to the interesting part

Linking to a video where the real action starts at 3 minutes 22 seconds, wondered if you could make it start at 03:22? You are in luck. All you have to do is add #t=03m22s (#t=XXmYYs for XX mins and YY seconds) to the end of the URL.
4. Hide the search box

The search box appears when you hover over an embedded video. To hide the search box add ‘&showsearch=0′ to the embed url.
5. Embed only a part of Video

Just append ‘&start=30′ to skip first 30s of the video. In general you can modify the value after start= to the number of seconds you want to skip the video for.
6. Autoplay an embedded video

Normally when you embed a Youtube video and load the page, the player is loaded and it sits there waiting for you to hit the play button. You can make the video play automatically by adding ‘&autoplay=1′ to the url part of the embed code.
7. Loop an embedded video

Append ‘&loop=1′ to make the video start again without user intervention after it reaches the end.
8. Disable Related Videos

Publishing your content in the form of Youtube video? Don’t want people to see other people’s content that may be related but may as well be in competition to you? Just add ‘&rel=0′ to the end of the url part of the embed code and you just turned off the related video suggestions!
9. Bypass Youtube Regional Filtering

Some videos are only available in certain parts of the world. Your IP Address is used to determine your location and then allow or deny access to the video. Change the url from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v= to http://www.youtube.com/v/
10. Download Video

Although not inherently a youtube trick but useful all the same for downloading videos. Just change youtube to kickyoutube in the url of the video and it will take you to kickyoutube.com with all the options for downloading the video you were watching.

5 Things To Do As A New Twitter User

Hello friends! Here are the list of things to do as a new Twitter User.

1. Work Out Why You Want to Use It

One of the key things to do early on is to work out what your goal is. It could take a little while to work this out but the sooner you nail down what you’re going to use twitter for the better. There’s no right or wrong with how to use Twitter – your focus might be:
  • to use it on a personal level to share what you’re doing with real life friends and family
  • to build up you and your blog’s profile in your niche
  • to unwind and have fun with new friends
  • to build up your network in a niche
The list could go on (and it could include multiple goals) – however knowing them up front will help you as you explore how to use it.

2. Start Tweeting

Your Tweets are your best advertisement for people to follow you – if you don’t have any (or many) what reason do people have to follow you? So start updating your Twitter account. Don’t just write about anything – remember that every Tweet you make can either take you closer to or further away from your Twitter goals.

3. Start Following Others

This process is a bit of an experiment and involves following people and then seeing if their tweets ‘resonate’ with you. Sometimes it means you’ll follow someone for a while and then unfollow them – but you’ll eventually find a group of people that you enjoy conversing with. Which leads me to my next point….

4. Get Interactive

OK – so you know why you’re using Twitter, you’re actually tweeting, you’re following what others are tweeting – the time now is to start reaching out to others and getting a conversation going.
This happens on a couple of levels:

Firstly it’s about writing things that others will want to interact with. The best way to do this is to ask a question. People are wired to reply to questions so start asking some. Keep them relevant to your goals and be willing to reply to people’s answers.

Secondly it’s important to respond to what other people are saying. The ‘reply’ feature on Twitter is key and should be used regularly, otherwise your use of Twitter will be quite one sided.

After a while you’ll find that the conversation becomes quite natural as you get to know others that you mutually follow and track what they’re doing, what your common interests are etc.

The beauty of being as interactive as possible with other Twitter users is that you’re talking to them in public and you’ll find your other followers and their other followers will chime in and make the conversation a little more multi-dimensional – it’s a great way of finding new friends to follow also.

5. Don’t Spam

Another thing that I noticed happening with a few of those that I added yesterday is that the only thing they were using Twitter for was to promote their own content. While it’s possible to do this I wouldn’t advise it. I do promote my posts on Twitter – but I try to balance them with other natural and organic conversation as well.

Another tip is to not just promote your own links, promote others. Keep them on topic and interesting and your followers will thank you for the links that you suggest.

Additional Tip…

There’s a lot more that can be said about using Twitter – but I want to keep this as basic as possible for those just getting into the medium. Start with these five basic things, work on them for a week or so and then you’ll start discovering your own way.

How To Break Up Any @ Reply Marathons With Useful Tweets

If your potential follower is still on your profile page, and they’re not yet convinced about following you, they are going to check what you’ve been tweeting recently.

Hopefully, they won’t see a sea of @ replies, which might insinuate that you spend a lot of time in micro-conversations that they may be left out of if they follow you.

I recommend breaking up any @ reply marathons with some useful, wide-audience tweets, share links or re-tweet a fellow Twitterer’s useful link.

How To Utilize Your Profile “Bio” In Twitter

Be clever, be witty, or just be yourself! In a few words, sum up who you are and make it sound interesting. Since that’s what Twitter is all about, writing an intriguing Bio in such a small space shouldn’t be hard. Here’s also another opportunity point your audience somewhere. If you are going to point users to a site that is not your website or Twitter landing page, I recommend putting it here so that users see the entire URL instead of in your Web link which gets cut off. Transparency is always best.

@jowyang uses his Bio to give a brief explanation of who he is and points those interested to an article he wrote “How I use Twitter.”

How To Use A Profile Picture That Reinforces Your Brand in Twitter

Keeping your profile pictures consistent across all your social networks will help people find you and recognize you online as well as offline. A picture of you with a hat obstructing your face or you in your Halloween costume should probably be swapped out for a picture that looks like you almost all of the time. A hard-to-recognize picture may result in users squinting at it and clicking away instead of clicking “Follow.”

Of course, using a photo of your face may not be the only way to be “recognizable”:

@photomatt Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of Wordpress, has a profile picture which is simple a bright pink square. It’s certainly recognizable in a Twitter lineup, but unless you’re on magazine covers like he is, you’ll want to use your picture as a way for people to identify you and to create a visual and hopefully emotional connection with your Tweets even if they haven’t met you in-person.
If your company has a memorable logo (and you have the permission to display it) you may consider using it to increase brand recognition. Note that this is best when the content of your Tweets is close to your company’s mission/communication strategy.

How Many Farm Town Neighbors Do You Really Need?

Social gaming is built on the idea of having neighbors – a lot of them. Just try and find a game on Facebook that doesn’t require you to have neighbors lined up to help you create new structures, make more coins, or just plain socialize. The goal is to be sure that you go out and recruit new players for the game and it works extremely well. Just look at how many players these games have – usually between 15 and 70 million for a single, free to play social networking game. That’s up to 5 times as many players as the biggest pay to play game in the world – World of Warcraft.

Finding Your Farm Town Neighbors
Finding neighbors in a game like Farm Town starts with making sure that you have a lot of friends to draw on. So, How Many Farm Town Neighbors Do You Really Need?
If you only have five friends on Facebook and none of them play Farm Town, you’re not going to have a tremendous amount of luck locking up a good number of neighbors for your farm.
Luckily, you only need 8 neighbors total to do all of the things that Farm Town has to offer. Unfortunately though, once you get those 8 neighbors, you might start to notice that the game doesn’t run as smoothly if those neighbors don’t log on very often or actually play their game very much. So, it’s good to really find players and neighbors who are actually interested in the game rather than just willing to let you send them gifts.

Choosing the Right Farm Town Neighbors
If you’re having trouble finding the right neighbors for your farm, there are some tricks you can use. To start with, talk to the people you are friends with. If they don’t play farm Town, try to get them involved. If they’re not interested, don’t have them as a neighbor. You can visit blogs, forums, and the Facebook groups for Farm Town and find plenty of players willing to remain involved with you as you play – a much more effective and profitable way of doing things.

As you can see, if you select the right Farm Town neighbors for your account, rather than focusing on your actual friends, you can ensure that you almost always have the perfect number of people on hand to help you level up and create the perfect balance of fun in the game and affordable play style. The need for Farm cash drops significantly and you’ll have far more people to discuss Farm Town with and how the game operates. That’s good enough reason alone to go out and start recruiting more Farm Town neighbors.

How To Create A Twitter Landing Page As Your “Web”URL

The website @pistachio had a great tip for this months ago when she created a “Twitter landing page” instead of sending users to the front page of your website. Advertisers create custom landing pages for different markets, so why not treat your Twitter audience differently, too? You can create one that explains to potential followers how you use Twitter and how to interact with you.

Some things you may want to include on your Twitter landing page:
- who you are / an abbreviated intro with a link to your more detailed About page, if available
- how you use Twitter (including frequency of Tweets, topics and if you use Twitter to tweet your new blog posts)
- your “follow” policy and how others should contact you if they want you to follow them back (with a “@user hello,” for example).

How To Create A Custom Profile Page Background On Twitter

Since the visual impact of your Twitter background is the strongest tool you have available, customize it to give people an eyeful of who you are.

You can make your own image on your computer and upload it under Settings – Design – Change Background Image. The first 200-250 pixels width on the left hand side is a great place to put additional profile information and list websites.

For a quick solution, you can create just the sidebar (250×700) as your background image with “no tile” selected. Then, modify the rest of the Twitter color scheme to complement it. You can use the first 200 pixels from the top for your picture or “header” for a possible logo and tagline.

The rest of the 400-500 vertical pixels should be used to tell others what you’re about and most importantly, what you’re looking for. Are you using Twitter to get business? To gather ideas for a project? To get feedback from customers? This is the best place to reflect your interests and other facets of your professional life if necessary, so that others can see it immediately.

Alternatively, you can use it to tell people how best to contact you like @garyvee who encourages people to email him instead of sending a Direct Message on Twitter.

Still not sure about the dimensions? You can use Browser Shots to see what it will look like on different screen sizes and browsers.

How To Grow Your Twitter Presence

Here are the useful tips you can use on how to grow your twitter presence.

1. Leverage Other Profiles

Do you have an existing online profile somewhere outside of Twitter (big or small)? Use it to springboard into Twitter. If it’s a blog, mention that you’re using Twitter in a post and link to it from your profile and contact pages. If you’re on Facebook use one of the numerous tools available to drag in your Tweets to facebook. Add it to your email signature, business card, mention it in interviews or guest posts that you might do…. etc. The same applies with any online (or even offline) presence that you have – link to your Twitter page and link to it often.

2. Tweet and Tweet Often – But Create Space for Reactions

The more active you are on Twitter the more likely you are to have someone find you from within Twitter and add you as someone that they are following. Every Tweet you do comes up on the Twitter Public Timeline – so upping your Tweet numbers can help have you appear more often there.
Warning – Tweet too regularly and about nothing worthwhile and you run the risk of losing followers. Twitter can actually become quite confusing once you have too many trains of thought going all at once so try to stick to one topic at a time and create pauses between them to let others interact.

3. Be Conversational

Apart from a good influx of new followers when I announced I was using Twitter at first the days that I get most new followers are those days that I interact with other Twitter users. Everytime you reply to someone and have them reply to you your Twitter ID appears in the feeds of others which exposes you to potentially thousands upon thousands of other Twitter users. Asking questions is perhaps the best way to get conversational on Twitter. Get 10 people to answer a question you’ve Tweeted and if even just one person signs up from each of those 10 people’s replies to you you have 10 new followers. Just as important is to participate in other people’s Tweets also – reply to their questions and ideas as much as possible.
The key with this approach is to be conversational about topics that will interest others. For example if you ask a very general question like ‘what cereal do you use’ and get a lot of answers – but i suspect you’ll get more answers and new followers if the question was more relevant to people’s lives in some way (read on for more on this).
Another thought on the ‘art of conversation’ on Twitter is that I find I do better when I’m not talking about me. No one likes to hang around with people who just talk about themselves – so get the balance right between talking about yourself and talking about others and other topics of interest.

4. Provide Value

Tweeting on a personal level is fun and for many that’s as far as it goes – but if you’re interested in growing your Twitter influence you need to provide your followers (and potential followers) with value. It’s the same principle as growing a blog – if you help enhance people’s lives in some way they are more likely to want to track with you and read more of what you have to say. As a result your conversations should ‘matter’ on some level. Sure you can throw in personal tweets and have some fun with it – but unless you’re providing something useful to people (information, entertainment, news, education etc) they probably won’t follow you for long.

5. Tweet in Peak Times

Tweeting during peak times only increases the chances of someone finding you and adding you as someone to follow.

Bonus Tip

Don’t stress too much about the numbers but connect genuinely with the Twitter followers you already have and let the rest take care of itself!

What Is A Twitter Landing Page?

What is a Twitter Landing Page?

In short – a twitter landing page is a page on your blog or website that is specifically written for those arriving at your blog having clicked on the link in your twitter profile.

Why Develop a Twitter Landing Page?

The reason was that when you promote your blog’s front page you send people to a page that at times can be confusing and is less likely to convert people into regular readers.
The idea behind a landing page is that it can be tailored to suit the audience who arrives on it.
Think about why people click the URL on a Twitter profile?
Most times that I do it – I want to know more about the person behind the Twitter account. I want to know who they are, what they do and how I can connect with them.
Being taken to the front page of their blog doesn’t really answer all of these questions without me having to do some more work (looking for an about page, sifting through their latest posts etc).
A Twitter Landing Page can quickly answer some of these basic questions and at the same time give a strong call to action (what this Call to Action is will depend upon your goals).

A Twitter Landing Page is designed simply to give more information and a relatively quick introduction into who I am and where people can find out more about the different aspects of what I do. .

Extend this Idea

Of course Twitter Landing Pages are just the tip of the social media iceberg. Extend it further by creating Facebook Landing Pages, LinkedIn Landing Pages, Plurk Landing Pages, Digg Landing Pages and more.

The Secret to Sending Gifts in Farm Town

One of the most fun things you can do in a social game like Farm Town is to send gifts to your neighbors and friends – essentially giving free items that would be hard to get otherwise. This is not only a nice thing to do for your friends, but most gifts in Farm Town are rare items or things that cannot be bought. It also frequently results in you receiving your own items in response from those very friends. When people are out there farming for each other, the amount of items you can acquire jumps up sharply. So, it is a good idea to figure out a good strategy in how to send items back and forth between friends so that you both benefit as much as possible.

The Rules of Sending Gifts in Farm Town
There are a few secret things to keep in mind when gifting. To start with, never send things that are more or less useless. The old adage that a gift will often receive a gift in kind doesn’t do you any good if you’re sending pieces of fence or bricks that your neighbors cannot use. Rather, send people things they’ll like such as new animals, small buildings or rare crops that they can use.
The more interesting items you send you friends as gifts, the more likely they’ll return the favor and when you get to a high enough level where coins won’t buy you everything despite the stock pile you’ll have built, this is a good habit to be in.

What You Can Get as Gifts in Farm Town
There are a lot of things you can get as gifts in the game. Because you can send up to 28 gifts a day, there is a good chance you can load up on gifts pretty quickly too. Animals, crops, buildings, and structures are all options and when special, limited time items are added to the game, you can gift and receive those as well – things that most players will want to snag up while they can.

If you are interested in maximizing the number of gifts in Farm Town you receive, you first need to find a few good neighbors and you need to start sending them their own gifts. You should also keep in touch with them, and to contact them regularly to see what they need. Sending someone a chunk of fence is not nearly as helpful as giving them something they can really use for their farm. If you can hit a good spot though and provide something they have a real need for, you will quickly find that your popularity increases sharply in a game like this.
